Computer Programming and Video Game Ethics

Curriculum

Develop basic and intermediate skills programmers apply to develop the Metagame. Investigate a variety of popular board and video games to discuss games that will last the test of time and not just a short term fad. Discuss a variety of computer languages and practice programming classic games such as Pong and Mrs. Pac Man  with Sphero Arcade in Swift Playgrounds. Apply this knowledge and advance your programming skills from coding robots to designing a game in Roblox Studio. Challenge your design skills with cardboard pinball and implement a makey makey board to breath life into this game. Throughout the week discuss issues concerning video games in our society today such as stereotyped characters, addiction, and gaming as an evolving art form. Gamers and non-gamers are welcome and encouraged to take this course. This course is only offered once this summer and taught by computer programmer Matias Seibert. Matias is a trained programmer and spends his free time mastering Super Smash Bros.
