Join Alan Good, The Covenant School varsity field hockey head coach this summer to develop new skills, confidence and passion for field hockey.
Our field hockey camp from June 17-21 at The Covenant School Hickory Campus (175 Hickory St, Charlottesville) will allow players of all ages and stages to improve their field hockey skills using games-based learning in a fun, competitive environment. Decision-making and stretch are the watchwords for Alan – who is a USA Field Hockey coach educator and Focus Field Hockey’s coaching director – and his staff as they seek to develop both a love of the game and technical proficiency. We also value the tactical, physical, mental and social sides to the game and aim to ensure that every participant leaves each day sweating, smiling and a little bit better at field hockey. You can expect to spend a lot of time with the ball, playing games and practicing game situations, and very little time standing in long lines or dribbling around cones without defenders!
Camps are open to any experience level. Students currently enrolled in grades 6-12 will attend the morning program starting at 9am and concluding at 12:00pm. The afternoon session is for students currently in grades K-5.
Field Hockey is powered by STEAM Discovery Academy. Looking for a full-day experience? Join our optional academic courses offered either before or after athletic programs. Sports Science is our academic program designed to enhance athletic training by incorporating the science associated with sports and athletes. Please apply only for the athletic program and we will contact you to discuss the academic options that best fit your student.
